Hmm, I have seen this problem in the past. Is it an external modem? If so are you using

at least a UART 16550? Sometimes if you are using an external modem your serial port properties

are defaulted to 9600 and if you are using an outdated modem.inf file you may only be seeing

the rate at which the modem communicates with the computer(I belive this is DTR instead of DTD - Sombody correct me if

I am wrong on those acronyms) but in most cases that is the problem. As long as the modem is still supported

you should be able to get at least an updated inf file. You might also try the Win95 Standard 28800 driver.
