Something that I haven't seen anyone suggest would be for Lucent to
release a binary library that handles the proprietary ComOS hooks. Rip
out anything from in.pmd that directly fiddles with ComOS, dump it into a
.a or .lib file, give us some function prototypes, and let the rest of the
world figure out how they want to use it.
This solves the problem of porting the functionality to new platforms (and
keeping up with moving targets), and the problem of making proprietary
information publicly known.
