Looks like the channel doesn't support 64K. What if you dial into
yourself, can it do 64K? Perhaps it isn't your end but somewhere in
the circuit.

I very much doubt this is related. The difference between 56K and 64K is
NOT very noticable, and 56K is rather fast.
