You probably forgot to 'save all'. They don't change
on their own, in my experience.

In this case, it doesn't represent a broadcast address.
It means that specific single IP address for S1, as in
198.85.229.42/32.
If you have a Cisco with async ports, like a 2511, look
at its routing table and it will become clear. A clip,
in case you don't have one to look at:
208.3.3.0/24 is variably subnetted, 17 subnets, 2 masks
C 208.3.3.80/32 is directly connected, Async2
C 208.3.3.81/32 is directly connected, Async3
C 208.3.3.82/32 is directly connected, Async4
P.S. I'm finally about halfway through "The Past Through
