Should - not always. It is meant to catch as many things as possible.

Nbufs are buffers used when sending data through the portmaster. What I
meant was that if you did see those go extremely high and just before the
lockup, then may gave us some leads at to what is causing it.

Can you ping the PM (from someplace other then the modem connection I
mean) when this happens?

The best thing to do is get a console plugged in s0 and log/watch it.
