What can I do if I want to upgrade my PM-2E-10 to additional ports, and I
want to put in 4 Megs of RAM, but can't get the right kind of RAM locally.
Note, that "locally" means Bangladesh, and our nearest bigger shopping
center is conveniently in Singapore.. where I have been told many times
from the various shops in Funan/Sim Lim that (1 Megabyte modules, Parity ?
... . No Stock!) This has been going on for six-eight months now, since
the whole asian market ram craze seems to be for 72-pin ram modules EDO
nonetheless and now the bigger 64 Mb modules.
I'd really like to consider some mechanical way (via a converter?) to use
72-pin RAM modules as substitutes for the 30 pin variety.. could anybody
suggest alternatives ?
We have plenty of RAM modules (from ancient 386's ) but at that time
parity-ram was not generally available!
What I would appreciate is a contact near Singapore (say, Livingston
user?) who might have some parity ram to sell to me. I'll be visiting
them next week and could strike up a deal. For the local market, there is
absolutely no one who could satisfy the requirements of 30-pins and parity
ram anymore. Are the latest versions of PM-2E still coming with 30-pins
configuration or have the motherboards been upgraded since ?
Would there be any suggestions from the Livingston support people for
asian users?
