since i was one of the many that requested multihoming capability on all
hardwired lucent/le product interfaces (specifically sync serial and
ethernet)... there are a few things that are inportant to deal with...
it is a really good idea to have a decent etherswitch when you do that as
the interface gets double whammied so to speak. collisions are bad bad
bad.
more importantly, it is best to have the amount of sync serial and/or
ethernet interfaces you need to start with or design the network to
reflect your security and routing policies so that you dont have to deal
with funky filters in/out of sync serial or in/out of ethernet interfaces
any more than is necessary should you do that now or in the future.
it is a PITA. later. :)
