In past discussions about this, it has been suggested that under heavier
loading, the PM may slow down its login responses. Also the Win95 DUN may
have a lot of protocols set to negotiate. The combination of the two results
in the timeout. To my knowledge, no one has ever conclusively determined the
exact details. It is almost certainly a timing problem inherent in the
Win95 DUN since no other dialers "suddenly" can't login for some reason.
I don't remember your original post, but if this mostly happens during your
peak load time or if your customer load has increased sharply, then a PM
"login" slowdown under loading may explain the sudden increase somewhat.
Still, to my knowledge, no one has proven that this is the case.
