The thing I liked about MZ was that he would sometimes not keep his head. ;)
I mean, look at the docs, the list is archived, check the release notes. We
are supposed to be the front line, and MZ enforced the concept of "we've
given you the tools, and they are probably better than most of our
competitors give you, use them to your advantage". You seek clue? Here be
hints. Hints is not enough? Are you sure you're the right person for the
job, because hints is more than you probably get from the other people.
Cool. Get frosty (with hints) or get out.
I mean, these weren't Packard-Bells we were buying, right? Above servers,
and below Ciscos(for the moment).
I picture MZ having GTE move his home essentials, shipping his guns FedEx
(at GTE's expense(except for one)) to a trusted friend where he's going,
and loading up his BMW K100 for a casual trip, punctuated with bursts of
speed, on a scenic route to his new job, handheld GPS hooked up to the
cellular-enabled notebook in the tank bag, hooked up to the cigarette
lighter, which occasionally gets used for lighting Cuban cigars. And
ignoring all e-mail while en-route (while still getting the e-mail, just
ignoring it).
And somewhere in Montana, a family truckster, full of Griswold's, rolling
along at 65, admiring the view, will have the hell scared out of them by a
grinning mountain blasting by on two wheels at 110, talking on a cell phone.
Have fun, MZ. You certainly earned it. ;)
>Now....who's going to be the new MZ?
OK, Lucent, (as Ensign Pulver yanks up the palm tree and throws it off the
ship)
"What the hell is this crud about no movie tonight?"
;)
