Yeah, we do that. It seems to run just fine, although I'm still looking
for the "best" init string to use with the ISPorte. Everyone (including
Compaq/Microcom) will tell you what string they think is best, but every
one is different. After switching from USR Courier V.Everythings to the
ISPorte, our average connect went down from 28.8 to 26.4. This might not
be the ISPorte's fault because we had telco problems around the same time
(the "when it rains it pours" effect). We are still running all analog on
our ISPorte, the 4 modems cards are pretty cheap nowadays. We've had some
problems with bad cards, but all were eventually replaced for free. Bottom
line - the ISPorte is OK. Not great, not bad, just OK. You should take
this to the microcom mailing list (to join I think it's
microcom-request@gate.tfb.com) because we all know the PM2e is as close to
rock-solid as electronic equipment can get.
