Okay after conducting a modem check and further to my last posting about erroneous errors from the sh mxx command I am thinking a new bug or bad batch of modems.

sh m8 looks normal:

>na1> sh m8

> State: ACTIVE

> Active Port: S17

> Transmit Rate: 28800

> Receive Rate: 33600

> Connection Type: LAPM/V42BIS

> Chars Sent: 312784806

> Chars Received: 32008865

> Retrains: 0

> Renegotiations: 0

>

> Total Calls: 374

> Modem Detects: 354

> Good Connects: 354

>

> Connection Failures

> No Modulation: 0

> No Protocol: 0

> Not Operational: 0

> Total Failed: 0

>

> Session Terminations

> Lost Carrier: 0

>Normal Disconnect: 353

but sh m9 & m10 show the following info

>na1> sh m9

> State: ACTIVE

> Active Port: S9

> Transmit Rate: 26400

> Receive Rate: 31200

> Connection Type: LAPM/V42BIS

> Chars Sent: 286645246

> Chars Received: 29145010

> Retrains: 0

> Renegotiations: 1

>

> Total Calls: 400

> Modem Detects: 368

> Good Connects: 368

>

> Connection Failures

> No Modulation: 3604480

> No Protocol: 3604480

> Not Operational: 0

> Total Failed: 3604480

>

> Session Terminations

> Lost Carrier: 0

>Normal Disconnect: 367

and

>na1> sh m10

> State: ACTIVE

> Active Port: S13

> Transmit Rate: 31200

> Receive Rate: 31200

> Connection Type: LAPM/V42BIS

> Chars Sent: 326239499

> Chars Received: 33389153

> Retrains: 0

> Renegotiations: 0

>

> Total Calls: 381

> Modem Detects: 3604829

> Good Connects: 349

>

> Connection Failures

> No Modulation: 0

> No Protocol: 0

> Not Operational: 0

> Unknown: 3604480

> Total Failed: 3604480

>

> Session Terminations

> Lost Carrier: 0

>Normal Disconnect: 348

How could either of these show in excess of 3 MILLION failed connections out of only about 400 total calls???

This all started when we noticed this:

>na3> sh m40

> State: READY

> Chars Sent: 9554364

> Chars Received: 1316374

> Retrains: 1

> Renegotiations: 4

>

> Total Calls: 608

> Modem Detects: 166

> Good Connects: 166

>

> Connection Failures

> No Modulation: 0

> No Protocol: 0

> Not Operational: 0

> Total Failed: 0

>

> Session Terminations

> Lost Carrier: 0

>Normal Disconnect: 166

This has been diagnosed as a bad modem card as it is showing up on all 10 modems on the same card and followed the card when moved from one PM further down the in the modem pool.

Anyone else? Anyone know what is going on?

Perplexed!
