So I'm not the only one to try this! I finally just used a linux box to
dial into my isp and route for the AS/400.

You might try using Mid Range Computing's web site, they often have
good information about the AS/400 that I haven't seen elsewhere. I don't
have the url but it should not be hard to find as there is not much
information about the AS/400 on the net that does not have .ibm. in the
address.
