That's v.8(bis?) I hear it's a sub-set of v.34 or something like that to
quickly communicate the capabilities of connection, like what error
protocols, speeds, v.34/K56Flex , etc...
Now, I really suggest you look for the digests in archives and read
through them about the difficulties that certain modems have with this
'tone'. Not to mention about digital padding etc.... 8) hey it's a
learning experience, and YOU have to be willing to put the effort into
making this work.... for 56K technology it is NOT plug and play, it's
either plug-n-prey or plug-n-pray, you decide which...
www.livingston.com DOES have a FAQ for the PM3 which should answer many of
your questions.
Additional reminders to those new to list, well I'm still a newbie overall
too... but, if you have any MAJOR/REAL problems call support at Lucent
RABU. This list is an informal area for us owners, with some wonderful
staff at LRABU, like MZ, Carl, Jon, Todd, etc... that have donated their
time to answer our questions... although nothing quite like the tachyon
issue on another list...but I digress...

Also I do have a set of the manuals with the July 97 printing if you can
NOT get to the manuals on the web e-mail me and I'll copy the relevant
sections for you...
Last, I'm not as knowledgeable as the guys at LRABU or Jake, etc.. and I
do NOT work for LRABU... but hell, I love LRABU and you guys sooo much...
and I just would like to give back what little help I can.
