Personally I would like to see us replace the IRX, or at least add a higher
level unit, based on the newer technologies we're using now. Maybe a 2 T1
main board with CSU/DSUs, and an expansion slot or two for a WAN card, or
something like that. We're had bullshit sessions tossing ideas back and
forth. We just can't do everything at once, and we have things in progress
now. But personally I think we'll get around to it in time.
The IRX could be repositioned as a middle box between the ORs and the
IRX-NG. Or maybe just replaced.
Speaking just for myself here - I'd like to see a unit that can use the
same compression and encryption cards as the PM-3. A base of 2 ports with
one or two expansion slots. 100baseT ether. And maybe support CT1 leased
lines in addition to the normal T1 and FT1... I guess something kind of
between a 2501 and a 3620...
