We have provisioned a PM3-2T with a PRI off of an Siemens EWSD switch.
The problem we have is that the local surrounding communities within local
calling range of this PM3, are originating calls off of old 70's model
Straumburg switches, with lots of Analog-to-Digital minefields. How can
we limit access to this box based on the Calling Station Id in Radius
through the users file?
e.g. Callers originating from other than exchanges 552, 554, 555, and 578 will
not be allowed access to this server.
The reason for this policy is simple: Callers originating from any other
exchanges have NO hope of obtaining 56K speeds, and in fact, 56K callers
originating from a Straumburg switch have reported that they would connect
at 39K but get nowhere.
They would then turn off 56K mode and dial in with no problem whatsoever.
Isn't this a waste of resources, if 90% of the user base is 33.6 or below
dialing in and tying up a 56k line?
We have 170 CO analog CO trunks terminating into PM2's, and 1 PM3 with a
PRI (23 active channels). I think it would be catastrophic to publish the
PRI access lines with no access control, thus allowing the over 1300
active callers in that POP area to access the PRI lines. Can you see BUSY
signals? I can!
