I dont see why not. Ive done that to attach to a term server to set it up
via ethernet so that I wouldnt have to use a null-modumb cable.

Well, it will still look for the OLD IP address regardless of where it is
or whether a packet can be routed to the new address. What are you using
as a name server? If its linux, you can assign it multiple ip addresses.

The way YOU want to do it would only work if the router did NAT and
translated the OLD ip address to the NEW ip address.

My suggestion would be to assign the old ip to the new dns server in
addition to the new IP (that is if you can) and ALSO enter the route so
that the PM can see the dns server with EITHER address.

OR...

Since its just a few people, send out a broadcast email to tell your users
of the new dns server #'s or tell them to tell their duns to discover the
dns info via ppp/lcp blah blah...

What about your 2ndary dns server? did that address change?
