I was wondering if I could get someone's advise or help with a modem a user
of ours has. All the information I have on the modem is below, as given to
me by one of the techs:
Banksia InFax Modem
Modem type - Class 1
Max. Fax Speed - 9600
Max. Fax Recieve - 4800
Manufacturer ID - AFEP-C2501-H0
Com Port Settings
Com1 - 2400
Data Bits - 8
Parity - None
Stop Bits - 1
Flow Control - Xon/Xoff
When the user tried to log on at first, it wouldn't even respond to our
PM3; however, after adding three commas after the number, he was finally
able to get the modem to connect to the PM3. But now, after the
handshaking is completed it just sits there until it finally returns the
error message, "unable to negotiate dial-in connection (failed)". BTW, the
modem is in a Win 3.1 box if that helps any. When I did a debug of the PM3
to see what the last two disconnect reasons were for the port that modem
was trying to connect to, it returned "3 min - User Request - PPP Term Req"
for the reason. I am kind of a novice at all this still, so any help you
could give would be greatly appreciated. I have included the debug session
for the modem, but I ran it through the PPP Decoder Ring before appending
it below, just in case it may be of some help! :)
As for our settings, we are running ComOS 3.7.2 on the PM3 with PRI. We
also are running RADIUS 2.0 for NT. I think that is all the settings you
should need, but more is available upon request. Thanks for your time and
