I forget which ver of comOS we were on at the time, but we had
one user using DirectPC with the same problem. I called directPC
and they eventually told me that they had a 5 minute idle timeout,
that would disconnect the modem but leave the downstream traffic
going (during a long download for example). Originally they didn't
even know what an "idle timeout" was, i had to go thru 3 tiers of
support before anyone knew what i meant. The engineer who finally
knew what was going on, still claimed that wouldn't be the problem!!!!!
later that night, the problem mysteriously dissapeared even though
we hadn't changed anything on our end.
This same customer had used regular dialup modems, and later ISDN
with no problems on our system using the same pc.
