What I was trying to say is since there's a max 18000 ft range between 2
adsl modems, unless you're in a small city (and we're in a metropolis), it
would require the telco to install the adsl modems (or concentrators) at
their COs. Then it's a matter of bridging it over to you. And for us, our
telco uses an ATM backbone to bring the data over to us. And we have to
pay to get into that backbone, and probably pay some fee for the adsl
modems/concentrators at the COs as well. We won't need any adsl modems at
our end then. Actually, that way, the telco can choose to bypass all ISPs
and become an adsl isp themselves. Only tarriffs and economics can prevent
that from happening.
