An article in latest Network World described Mr. Brent Townshend patent
claims on 56K technology which could derail the the ITU standards. This
could further delay the ITU 56K.
"A foreign patent search conducted by one of the modem vendors on the ITU
committee turned up Townshend's claim - a broad patent filing on basic
56K/sec pulse code modulation technology." Network World Aug 25, 1997
The ITU 56K future now lies in the hands of the attorneys <shudder>.
