When the V.8 tone comes on a K56Flex modem responds with some funky tones
and then the PM3 (whether it got a response from a K56Flex modem or not)
starts making sounds like normal V.34 modems. Simply put.
It drops back to V.34 in a second or two if the K56Flex modem didn't
respond with a V.8 56k signal..
