When our PM3 was upgraded to ComOS 3.7, I could barely use my 33.6K
Sportster...it would retrain down to 4800bps. Another user got 31.2K and
33.6Kbps connects for the first time on his Sportster 33.6K (his ROM was
older than mine...he had 28.8Kbps printed on the case and I had 33.6Kbps
printed on the case). I switched to a 28.8Kbps Sportster, and my
speed was fine, but I had many disconnects). Turning OFF v.42BIS
(&K0) as suggested by many users on this list seems to have improved
things.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of Portmaster ISP's were recommending USR
Sporsters as an inexpensive alternative to Winmodems and other crap
modems...and now we are stuck with the blame of incompatibility.

On Friday August 1997, Rick Smith <rsmith@nac.net>

There's no difference in modem code/compatibility between 3.5.1b20 and 3.7
