There are programs like 'procmail' and 'filter' that can sort email into
folders for you. And most mailers, such as 'elm', have their own search
abilities that would allow you to find email with keywords you're looking
for.
Any list split will never made everyone happy. But each individual can
tailor their own 'split' on the client end.
