Because it doesn't make sense. We need more SNMP capabilities anyway.
That work is being done anyway. It makes no sense to add ANOTHER channel
to get info like that, and all the associate code, for such a minor thing.
Not when it can be (and was) slotted into the SNMP work simply.
And SNMP is widely used. People may want to use this info for OTHER things.
