Livingston wouldn't have had to even upgrade the hardware but they were at
the same time changing to Lucent's modem code instead of their home-grown
modem code. Lucent's code has to run on Lucent DSPs unless Livingston
wants to waste a LOT of time porting it every time Lucent changes
something. It's easiest to just put Lucent chips in the PM3's.
