New modem cards

We have not received our cards yet (#471) but after following some of these
threads it is
almost like playing Russian roulette.

I had raised this issue with frequent disconnects on the PM3 (even with the
"old card") a while ago; it seems
as if the PM3 is very picky with modems - customers who used to be able to
connect to our
Pm2's had disconnect problems - it was no particular modem. We had to fiddle
with the init
string and sometimes it worked.

It is extremely frustrating - we spend *A LOT* of our tech support time just
trying different
init strings with customers and we invariably get "I used this modem to
connect with ISP x".

I also echo the sentiment of Jaime Bozza "We can continue to provide fixes and
patches, but none of this is 100% until the modem code on our end is clean
enough that
a new customer can signup and be able to get online immediately without us
spending time tweaking this and fixing that."

I think that the reason why most of us chose the PM3 route was that we
trusted LE's products (PM2's) and we expected
the PM3 to provide a solution that worked ALL OF THE TIME with ANY modems
(well most) that
did not require constant troubleshooting - after all this solution is not cheap.
