On a Sportster (per the sportster manual):
AT&F0 = generic setting NO flow
AT&F1 = generic setting with hardware flow (default)
AT&F2 = generic setting with (xon/xoff) flow control
I was led to believe (by a USR tech support person) that doing an AT&F was
the same as AT&F1 BECAUSE AT&F=AT&F0 which sets the modem to FACTORY
defaults, which according to the manual, AT&F1 is the DEFAULT. Actually I
sort of led HIM to believe that and he said, "Yes, I suppose so.".
This is confusing on USR's part. The &F settings are not commands (in
USR's case) to set the modem to the factory defaults, but to set the modem
to 1 of 3 generic templates. For USR to say that AT&F1 is a "default"
really means nothing except for the VERY FIRST time the unit is ever
powered on. Therefore it's confusing.
Or maybe I'm just stupid. You choose. ;-)
