8) but you didn't explain you probably have ate0 (no echo) etc set so you
wouldn't see anything returned other than the cursor moving around..

8) That's why I used to do the modems off-line connected to a laptop.
Tested each one individually, then connected to a phone line and verified
that the autoanswer came on. When on-line with the PM2x then called
directly to verify.

*sigh* it's a bear, though I only did a max of 30 at a time, but it sure
made for a lot for my peace of mind.
