I don't know what BellAtl land you are living in, but not Maryland and NoVA..

I have been using DOV for well over two years now without any problems. As
we all know you loose 8K of channel capacity (56K vs 64K) but it is then
classified as a voice call. There is NOTHING in any tarrif with the POC
that states if you run bits over the 56K channel that you can be penalized.
Heck don't you think your voice is being digitized into a stream of data
and sent back to the switch? You aren't assured of a pure digital channel,
so if you were to get punted on to some analog copper at some point you
would have no right to bitch if your data stream didn't make it (as you setup
the call as voice), but thats the chance you take.

There is nothing illegal about this, though needless to say the Telco isn't
going to promote it's use. If it was illegal do you think the people
making the equipment would include the mode for use. All our equipment
supports DOV as well as Clear Channel 64K, and I wouldn't order it any
other way, nor does BellAtl have any right to come after me for supporting
this mode for my customers if they choose to use it. It's been this way
for years, and I doubt it will change anytime in the near future..
