Well I know i have covered this as some point a while back on this list,
but will try and recall what I had to do. With us moving to PM3's it has
gotten rid of most of the troubles we saw with the 5BRI/PM2 configs.

Basically the real problem with the Ascend is that it can only store 1
telephone number vs products like the BSpro that can deal with both. On
the other side the 5BRI board is VERY picky about the correct number being
dialed. As we had a bunch of BRI Centrex groups in place, this was a problem.

After a lot of talking with the local Telco, we found the following
configuration worked just fine. I am not sure if I can remember the
exact command (programming sequences), but I'll gove it my best shot.

The Telco needs to program the switch for a max of 1 CSD (and 1 CSV if
you support DOSBS) so that when the first telephone number gets a call
and assigns it to the first B channel that is it. This prevents the 2nd
B channel from getting a call coming to the first B's number which the
5BRI will reject. Then they need to set the switch to forward a call from
the first number to the second number if the first number is busy. On the
5ESS I believe this is called CFDBLAC (Call Forward Data Busy Line All Calls)
for a Data connection, or CDBLAC for a Voice call.

This solution has been in use with the 5BRI board here at our office
almost as long as the 5BRI has been in existence. I also still have at least
10 such configs up and working. So the answer is YES, this will work, but
requires a few special adjustments at the CO to make everything play nice..

Hopefully this will help you in your attempt to make this work, plus I will
send it back to the list in case it's of use to anyone else...
