Do this all the time, but beware the traps of Ascend-othervendor compatiblity
with respect to bandwidth on demand. Also Ascend has Stac compression
issues with regard to mixed vendor environments. Also it seems that
the cheapest box that does is is something like a Max 1800, or 2000
with BRI interfaces, as the pipeline 400 is discontinued, so you are
looking at a pretty hefty price tag. Other vendors may have cheaper
products, but make sure that your vendor is willing to publicly show
this working.
(The vendors WILL start finger pointing, so make sure you don't give
anyone any money until it works.)
