Cockpit error - Signal 100 on BSD/OS 2.1 and radius-2.0.1

In testing radius-2.0.1, I downloaded this evening the precompiled binary
for BSD/OS, namely:

-rw-r--r-- 1 408 57 164175 Jun 5 21:49
radius_2.0.1_BSDOS_2.0.tar.Z

The program bombs with signal 100 on each authentication, and it appears to
be necessary to restart it by hand (robustness?).

The results of the installation are:

mail# uncompress radius_2.0.1_BSDOS_2.0.tar.Z
mail# tar xvf radius_2.0.1_BSDOS_2.0.tar
LICENSE
BSDOS_2.0/radiusd
BSDOS_2.0/builddbm
radius/raddb
radius/raddb/menus
radius/raddb/menus/menu1
radius/raddb/menus/menu2
radius/raddb/clients
radius/raddb/dictionary
radius/raddb/users
tar: tar vol 1, 10 files, 262144 bytes read.
mail# ls -l BSDOS_2.0/radiusd
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 163840 May 21 23:02 BSDOS_2.0/radiusd

mail# /etc/radiusd -v
/etc/radiusd: Livingston RADIUS 2.0.1 97/5/22 NDBM NOSHADOW PASSCHANGE
bsdi flat_users

Is this an old binary which is still on the ftp site?

If not, what is the likely cause?
