PM3 'stuck' (fwd)

Once upon a time Ron Tapia shaped the electrons to say...
>I've seen a lot of lost carriers with 3.5.1b20.

Note that does not mean there is as problem. MANY PPP packages end the
session simply by hanging up. That will show as Lost Carrier. *Any* call
that is terminated with a hangup will be Lost Carrier.

>It seems like my PM3 is retraining/renegotiating much too often for
>usability (or it's taking to long to do one or the other). Is it possible
>that 3.5.1b20 is a little too sensitive to line noise (for US West
>territory)?

Actually since the PM-3 end is digital, it is usually the end user modem
that starts a retrain with us. There is no 'line noise' on a digital line.
It either works or it doesn't.

> Retrains: 1
> Renegotiations: 0

Doesn't look like a retrain or renegotiation issue then.

> Session Terminations
> Lost Carrier: 0
>Normal Disconnect: 169

Looks ok.

> Retrains: 2

Ok, it retrained once during that time.

> Transmit Rate: 26400
> Receive Rate: 26400
> Retrains: 3
> Renegotiations: 8

Now it retrained back to a higher speed, and it renegotiated protocols
apparently a number of times.

Have you had any line noise problems on the line the end modem is on
before?
