I have checked through my saved mail on routing but I thought I would
check to see if I have got it right with all you IP experts;
I currently have a POP (POP 1) connected via a PM2 to PM2 connection. To
keep my life easy, I just routed a whole 'c' to the remote POP. I would now
like to subnet the 2.2.2.x 'c' and split it in two so I can route 1/2 to POP
1 and 1/2 to POP 2.
|--------------
---------------------------------------| | POP 1
| | |
| |-------------- 2.2.2.x
| |-----------------|-----------|
--------------- | |
| | | | POP 2
| Main Site | -------------
| |
---------------
|
---------------------
1.1.1.x
Currently POP 1 logs on and gets an IP of 2.2.2.21 at my main site and I
route (add route 2.2.2.0 2.2.2.21 1) to it. Works like a champ.
Now to subnet should I;
Add netmask 2.2.2.0 255.255.255.128
add route 2.2.2.0 2.2.2.21
add route 2.2.2.128 2.2.2.129
where the address of POP 1 PM is 2.2.2.21
and the address of POP 2 PM is 2.2.2.128
Now, do I have to set a subnet mask on the remote PM's, Do they care? Is
there any implication to the PM numbering I have used? Any feedback will be
appreciated.

The solution to any problem lies in its proper definition.
