ICMP redirects...opinions..

Using Livingston terminal servers recently gave me the option of
putting ospf to use on the lan. I have 4 terminal servers and one cisco
residing on the same physical ethernet segment all in ospf area 0.

Machines on the same segment include nameservers and mailservers for the
dialup users. The majority of dialups, if not 99% have statically
assigned addresses.

ICMP redirects sent to the unix servers have become far too frequent now.
My question is whether or not this should just be considered 'normal',
or when it becomes 'too much'.

Usually when someone mentions ICMP redirect, they also mention 'badly
configured routers' in the same sentence. I don't see installing
gated or something comparable on every unix server a true solution either.
Short of doing that, or turning off icmp redirects on the cisco, what
would people suggest?

Cheers,
Karl Asha
