I talked to engineering the other day and opened a joint RFE:

1. Extend the subinterface support to the ethernet. This is better than
just letting the port have multiple IPs because it allows you to set filters
for each network, just like on frame relay. And since the code for
subinterface exists, it isn't created from scratch.

2. While the code is splayed open, finish the work on multiple subinterfaces
since it is really needed on ethernet too in this case.

Engineering seemed interested in it, now to find a timeslot on the schedule.
