Apparently I cannot get a PRI without DID, but I will go back and
check. I was (and still am) pretty vague on what DID is, but I was
pretty emphatic that I wanted only one number for my PRI.

> Bottom line: You probably don't want DID. You probably want Centrex,

Centrex is what I have now, and Centrex is what NYNEX quite
emphatically says I cannot get on a PRI, noway, nohow. I've looked
into this a fair bit, and NYNEX ain't alone. Some places you just
cannot get Centrex PRI, some places you can get it by paying almost
twice the price, and some places it's just another option you can
choose.

Telco policies and procedures are simply not the same from place to
place. I see this every day, because only about 2/3 of my network is
in territory served by NYNEX. The rest is served by Citizens Telecom,
one of the largest non-RBOC LECs. Life is very different on different
sides of the border between them. Some things are better, some are
worse. (Examples: Citizens does not meter business calls, and they do
not offer term discounts on data lines.)
