Diminishing returns. Like why NT doesn't run all the old 8 and 16 bit
software for MS-DOS/Win that exists. Keepign support for all of it would
cripple the system.

Same reason you don't see a lot of software written for VMS or CP/CMS these
days (Compared to UNIX, M$, etc).

Eventually you reach a point where you have to shed the oldest aspects and
move on.
