PANIC System Exception IP: 33333333 when someone calls in with PPP

We shut off our portmaster for 30 minutes today because we were
re-wiring the modem cables and connecting a few new modems. It's a
portmaster with 30 ports, running ComOs 3.3.2

Hooked it back up, went in on my local console as !root looked and
everything seemed fine.. All the settings were still there.

But as soon as someone calls in with PPP the local console displays
"PANIC System Exception IP:333333333" and reboots!!! *EVERY* time
someone calls in with PPP.

Did some fine-checking and found out that if you call in manually with
a terminal program you get the login: prompt fine, and you can login and
it does the :

PPP session from (207.164.28.16) to 207.164.28.30 beginning....

Message no problem.. it's just when they call in with the same account
using whatever PPP dialin they have (i.e. windows 95 PPP
dialup-networking for most of our users) that the port master reboots
right away
with that PANIC System Exception IP:33333333 followed by 6 registries
numbers.

What could be causing this?? All we did is shut it down, and move a few
modems around!! Plug a few new ones in!! Went through the manuals can't
find anything for "PANIC" error messages that would help explain. Is
the portmaster just dying with PAP ? Or dying when a user starts sending
PPP packets?? What?? How do I fix this!
Help help help help!!

A very *paniced* system adminsitrator...
