The word on the ascend-users mailing list is that this is Ascend's way to
dump their old hardware, such as 8-port modem cards instead of the current
12-port modem cards. As always, you get what you pay for. If old Ascend
equipment is what you want, its a good deal. But, I wouldn't consider it
a serious upgrade path.
