system: restarted

I have a PortMaster 2E. The other day it stopped working. Could
not telnet to it and it would not talk to the modems. The syslog
had dozens of "system: restarted" entries. I cylced power serveral
times and it still would not work. Finally I turned off power for
several minutes and when I turned it back on, it was fine. I haven't
seen any of the "system: restarted" messages since (been about 5 days).

Does anybody know what the message means and how to prevent it from
happening again?

(running verison 3.1.4)
