HOW-TO trace ip packets

I know this is a 'newbie' question. If there's documentation on this
please point me to it.

How do you make the portmaster trace ip packets coming from a given
host? I've tried:

PM1> ptrace poptop
Packet Tracing Enabled

But nothing happens after that. What else do I need to do in order to
see the packet traffic. And, if it doesn't already do this, can I
direct some of it to the log service.
