ISDN Preview at Interop

I'm surprised to see only a couple of postings on our ISDN preview at
Interop; perhaps all the people who came by the booth are still digging
out from under their mailboxes after returning from Interop.

The products weren't announced at Interop, they were just shown as a
preview (which means we weren't saying when or how much). The
announcement will be later this month.

Since hundreds of people were told the following information at the
preview, I hope no one minds if I describe it here; just keep in mind
that I'm just reporting what we said at the preview, and this is NOT an
announcement, which will contain dollar signs and more adjectives.

Three pieces of ISDN hardware were shown, all with BRI U interfaces
(meaning built-in NT1s so you can just plug in the ISDN phone line in
the U.S.).

A 5 BRI board that can go into the 2nd and 3rd expansion slots in the
PM-2E and PM-2ER. In addition to the 5 seperate BRI's (each with 2 B
channels and a D channel) it has a 6th RJ-45 that accepts a 10-pin
cable that you can take to your punch-down block. So you can use 5
cables or 1 cable to connect.

A PortMaster Office Router with an ISDN BRI instead of a PCMCIA slot.
It also has an RJ-45 async port for use with external modem or console,
and an ethernet with AUI or Twisted Pair.

A PC ISA bus card with BRI, that will act like a virtual COM port for
ease of use.

We'll be previewing them at the show in Houston this week or next, and
they'll also be at Internetworld in Boston in late October, so if
you're attending either feel free to drop by the booth and admire them
openly.

Please note that this is a big step forward on the second of the
Big Four things we get asked about most, so see, your patience DOES
get rewarded.
