ISDN Office Router AP Product Overview Product Overview The new ISDN Office Router AP is a full-featured, multi-protocol router that provides small businesses, telecommuters, and remote offices with reliable connections to corporate LANs and the Internet. The product includes an ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) port, one analog phone port, one Ethernet port (AUI and 10BaseT), and an asynchronous serial port. The product is available with U (integrated NT1) or ST ISDN interfaces and supports worldwide ISDN switch standards. The product runs Lucent's Internet-proven ComOS software, used by over 2000 ISPs worldwide. Key Applications The ISDN Office Router AP is ideal for small LANs needing high speed, dial-on-demand routing to the Internet or private corporate networks. Each of the two ISDN B channels can be used individually for routing to separate networks or they can be combined using Multilink PPP for 128 Kbps of bandwidth to a single location. The product's analog port allows traditional analog devices such as telephones, fax machines, and modems to communicate over one ISDN B channel while the other B channel is being used for data applications, such as web browsing. This feature allows small office users to consolidate all their office communications devices over one ISDN line and eliminates the costs associated with separate phone lines. Feature Summary Full-featured routing Support for RIP and OSPF (w/ VLSM and NSSA) routing protocols ensures compatibility with a wide range of ISP and corporate WAN topologies. The product supports simultaneous IP and IPX routing and does not limit the number of Ethernet users or routes that can be added. On-demand dial-tone This feature enables the flexible use of ISDN bandwidth. The Office Router can temporarily drop one B channel of a Multilink PPP data call to allow a user to place an outbound phone call or send faxes via the analog interface to the ISDN line. The second B channel is automatically restored to the original data call when the analog call is terminated. Stac LZS and MS-Stac data compression The product features standards based data compression that increases throughput up to 512 Kbps for optimal use of bandwidth and reduced connection costs. Graphical install wizard This easy to use software greatly simplifies ISDN and router configuration and eliminates novice user frustration. The install wizard contains extensive on-line, context sensitive help. Asynchronous serial port For inbound use, this multifunction port supports a V.34 or K56Flex modem for dial-up InterNetworking Systems and remote router management. For outbound use, the async port can provide automatic dial back-up if the ISDN line goes down and simultaneous dial-up routing to the same or a separate location when the ISDN line is in use. Built in Firewall security Extensive network layer IP and IPX packet filtering provides user configurable security for small businesses. Comprehensive management The ISDN Office Router AP can be locally or remotely managed using Lucent's GUI based PMVisionTM, an easy to use complete management package for all Lucent products. The Office Router also supports Telnet remote management, SNMP (MIB II), and Syslog for simple integration into any network management environment.
